Back in March, I had a bout of marathon sewing to prepare for ConBust. I had a couch full, plus knitted dolls, animals and characters.
It is not even September and I am all but sold out of stock. Mind you, I replenished the character dolls between conventions. This was for Conbust, Anime Boston, Boston Comic Con, ComiCONN and Bing Con.
I'm really not bragging. I'm genuinely happy, grateful and blown away. This is the best problem an artist can have, and I wish it for all of you.
The downside, and you crafters know this, is that crafts can be a little time consuming, knitting in particular. My next convention is Baltimore Comic Con, which is September 7-8. I'm grateful that next week is going to be a short one. Labor Day is appropriate in this case.
To make the character dolls, I often use reference pictures. I've found that chibi versions of the characters work best for me. When it comes to reference pictures, DeviantArt delivers! I can't favorite or thank you enough.
The Convention Schedule is as follows:
9/7-9/8 Baltimore Comic Con
9/27-9/28 Pittsburgh Comic Con
10/10-10/13 New York Comic Con
10/18-10/20 Another Anime Convention (Manchester, NH)
11/2-11/3 Rhode Island Comic Con (Providence, RI)
If you're in the area, stop by!
